3rd Update of Toot and her puppies

These photos were taken on the 25th of April

Here is her house again.  I probably mentioned before but this is a 1V geodesic dome, made out of 1/2 metal conduit and it's galvanized.  What I really like about it is:
  • It is very light
  • It can be taken apart for transport.
  • Made out of 2.5ft struts, 25 of them, formed into a pentagon shape.
  • I wrapped it with chicken wire, attached with zip ties.
  • Covered with tarp.
  • I have a scarf, hanging like a curtain on the opening to keep bugs at bay.

here is my queen B with her pups.  and they are gonna need their good forever home.

Coconut Oil for fleas - does it really work?

I don't know how I found out about Coconut Oil for fleas.  But I felt the need to try it.  I watched one video on YouTube about it and read a blog with lots of feedback about it and how it does work.  Maybe one reader didn't work for them.  But I am willing to try.

So I went to Kroger grocery store to get some organic Coconut Oil.

In the regular Cooking Oil aisle, I found the store brand as low as $4.99
So I bought one of those.

In the health freak section of the store for the same size it cost $8.49
But I bought the larger size for $14.99.  It's Organic, I don't know if its cold press.  Because according to the blog, you must use Cold Press Coconut Oil.
here's the link to the blog where I read this info from:

Yesterday was the first Try.  I will continue to use it on my 6 dogs until I runs out.  and will update this blog.

I do know one thing.  It was use in my hometown (The Philippines) as our hair and scalp treatment.  So will see.

Review of Nitenpyram

Warm weather is here and so are the fleas.  This is Georgia, I do believe is the home of the fleas.  They are notorious and they find their way to my dogs and house without a problem.  I am always looking for ways to treat flea infestation.  I have tried.  But I know I need to be consistent in the war against fleas.

What I did find last year was Nitempyram.  I started with Capstar.  But Capstar is very expensive.  and I have 7 pitbulls to protect.  They all get flea infestation.  I found out about Nitempyram by searching for Capstar on eBay.  The cost is much better. Nitempyram is suppose to be the generic version of Capstar.

I bought it from ebay user Mr.Zipp for $11.00 for 6 tablets.  and since Toot is with puppies and nursing, I wont give her any.  There are two version of Nitempyram.  One for under 25 lbs dogs or puppies, and the other is for dogs over 25 lbs.  Your dog or puppy must be at least 2 lbs to give this treatment to and can only be given once a day.  Must be given with full meal.

It seems to work.  So I give them the treatment at least once per week.  The treatment only last up to 2 days.  Once it passes out of their system, it's gone and no longer effective.  But it does start to work in 30 mins.  It only kills adult fleas and does not prevent them.

Mr.Zipp from ebay Nitenpyram

I bought this version of Nitenpyram from eBay to.  and it kinda scared me.  Because it must be a stronger version because it had all my dogs panting more than usual.  So I will not be buying this again.

2nd update of Toot's new pups

Here are more updates of Toot's new born puppies. These photos were taken on 23rd of April

She keeps a close eyes of her doggie yurt, or geodesic dome. She doesn't stray far at all.  Staying out for only few seconds at a time.

I was really glad to her her house ready.  It's a 1V geodesic dome.  It perfectly fits a children's plastic swimming pool.  Which I used as her for her and her puppies.  It's not perfect but perfect for her.  It keeps them dry and off the dirt.  We had rain and thunderstorm just about every other day and they are doing very well inside.

I fed her boiled chicken and rice for the first couple of days of the delivery to help her form good milk.  Sometimes I would add carrots and potatoes instead of rice.  She loves it.  She eats about 3-4 times a day.  She lets me know by barking at my bedroom window.

Yesterday, she had boiled fish, carrots and potatoes.
She'll go through a dozen boiled eggs.
I try to keep her on most protein (meaty) diet. when my wallet allows it.

I want the puppies to have a good immune system.  I think a good diet is important.

Toot's 4th set of puppies

She is so getting fix after this.  Another accidental breeding.  I kept her in my room while she was in heat.  Away from the boys.  But one of the boys was very sneaky.  He hid under the bed quietly.  His presence was unknown to me.  Until I woke up and found them stuck.  You know I was furious.  But life has it's way coming to existence.  Who am I stop stop it.

These photos were taken on April 20th.  I think, two days after she gave birth to 11 pups.

She's a good mom.  She would step out from her geodesic dome, squat and drop the newborn, bloody puppy and she would carry it back inside her little hut, clean them up and repeated it 10 more times.

Dog Treats from Walgreens

I frequent Walgreens, not just for their photos and midnight snacks but for dog treats also.  Here are some of the dog treats that I grab from my local Walgreens drugstore.

If you have a large powerful breed, such as my pitbulls, I get these beef marrow bone by PetShoppe.
They are pricey at $2.99 each
but they keep my canine friend occupied for some time, last long, and you don't have to worry about them chewing on some soft splintered bones.

and if you have a pack like I do, 7 pitbulls,
these are great treats for everyone.
I only trust Made in the USA dog treats.
avoid dog treats made in China, specially those light colored beef hides.
I saw a post on facebook where it had worms inside, gross.
